Josh from PA

Tonight we’re brewing Josh’s recipe for an American pale ale.

Josh from PA Brew Sheet

edit (by Josh): So, this Brew Sheet isn’t entirely accurate.  The Cascade hops I used for this beer were from the Pacific Northwest in America, not Middle Earth (aka New Zealand).  The hops schedule shows 2 oz for dry hop; Not true – 1 oz at flame out, 1 oz dry hop. Also, there is NO Star Anise to be found in this Pale Ale – that would be un-American. Finally, I certainly did not use 2lb 3oz of Whirlfloc tablets, I’m sure that would create a wormhole – I only used one little little tablet. Some of the numbers may not be precise, like IBU, but I’ll have to check the official data.

Not-so-Blackie OG

The OG for the Not-So-Blackie is 1.050 so we’re on the mark. However, we forgot to put the vigor in during the boil and put it in when we pitched the yeast instead. It probably won’t really matter. This is our pale ale, some may call it a bitter. There are many like it but this one is ours!
